M2M - Matterhorn to Mont Blanc

TWO ICONS. ONE EPIC RIDE

260 kilometers. 8,100 meters of climbing. Five days of alpine wilderness between two of the world's most legendary peaks — entirely on the Italian side of the Alps, where the crowds disappear and the real mountains begin.

The M2M is not a road trip. It's a journey through high-altitude passes, gravel tracks, technical singletrack and ancient mountain paths. You'll carry your bike on your shoulders where the trail demands it, and ride stretches of pure flow where it rewards you. Every surface, every climb, every descent earns its place in the route.

Starting in Breuil-Cervinia beneath the unmistakable silhouette of the Matterhorn, the route winds west through the heart of the Aosta Valley, finishing in Courmayeur with Mont Blanc filling the sky above the town.

THE EXPERIENCE

Nights in mountain refuges, family-run B&Bs and alpine hotels. Mornings that start with fresh bread and strong coffee before the day's first climb. Evenings that end with Valdostan cuisine — fontina, carbonade, polenta concia — and local wines from one of Italy's smallest and most extraordinary wine regions, home to some of Europe's highest vineyards, where heroic winemaking has thrived for centuries against all alpine odds.

This is bikepacking the way it should be: challenging enough to earn every view, comfortable enough to actually enjoy them.

IS THIS RIDE FOR YOU?

The M2M is designed for riders who are comfortable on technical singletrack and have a solid base fitness. Daily stages average 50–75 kilometers with up to 2,000 meters of climbing — demanding but manageable for a well-prepared cyclist. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the itinerary can be extended over additional days, spreading the effort without losing any of the experience.

GETTING HERE

The ride is accessible from three international airports — Milan Malpensa, Turin, and Geneva — all within comfortable transfer distance of Breuil-Cervinia. Private transfers can be arranged on request, so you arrive at the start line relaxed and ready.

YOUR GUIDE

I am a UIAGM licensed Mountain Guide, an instructor of the Mountain Guides and Mountain Rescuers, and a member of the Società Guide Alpine Courmayeur — the oldest mountain guide association in Italy and the second oldest in the world. With more than 20 years of experience guiding clients across the world's greatest mountain ranges, I brings to every ride something no GPS track can offer: a lifetime of reading these mountains.

Cycling is my other passion — from racing as a young rider to guiding on MTB, gravel, road and e-bike. The Aosta Valley is my home terrain, and the M2M is the route I designed and tested for you so I knows every pass, every refuge and every hidden line between Cervinia and Courmayeur. I am also co-owner of Aosta Valley Freeride.
